The aim of this seminar is for one to gain a clear understanding of the role of the board in the development and implementation of strategy. Participants have the opportunity to examine the issues surrounding strategy and marketing with fellow directors. One will also get the opportunity to examine and use a variety of techniques that assist in the strategic process. The seminar offers a great opportunity to examine how ones board formulates, implements and monitors its business and marketing strategies. Participants will also have the opportunity to discuss and assess marketing concepts with directors  from other organisations before utilising them in their business.

Instructional Objectives
Attending this course will enable delegates to:

  • Understand what strategy is and how a board uses it to generate value
  • Appreciate the strategic importance of a clear purpose as provided by vision, mission and values, and effective strategic thinking
  • Be equipped with tools to help make an effective situation appraisal and evaluate the relationship between the internal and external environments of the organisation
  • Understand strategic analysis is essential to successful strategy formulation and implementation
  • Have an understanding of the means by which strategic options may be generated and evaluated to arrive at the strategy that will deliver the vision
  • Understanding the importance of strategy and marketing in generating value
  • Obtain an overview of risk and measurement with respect to strategy implementation

Trainer: Tony O’Connell

Tony O’Connell’s fields of expertise are leadership and strategy. During his career Tony has served on the boards of Sony Corporation of America as Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Tektronix Europe as Managing Director of the Video Division and as Managing Director of Ampex Corporation’s UK subsidiary. Tony has been responsible for strategy development and for leading organisations in the USA, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He is an experienced international businessman with a record of success across three continents. Tony has worked extensively on the cultural integration challenges of mergers and acquisitions and has served as a non-executive director for SMEs.

Fees and General Information

In order for you to complete your Certificate in Company Direction Programme you will need to take your Examination. Please note that the examination date is the 20th June 2012. The examination will be conducted on-line.

Fees 
The IoD Company Direction Certification Programme fees are €4,600.

No VAT is charged due to CIIM’s VAT exemption status.

Fees include tuition materials, refreshments and executive lunches.

The balance of the fees is payable upon enrollment. For cancellations less than 2 weeks prior to the commencement of the course the cancellation fee is €600.

Examination Fee:
